It only took an hour for Klonoa to instantly become one of my favorite franchises, even though the games are few. A friend suggested I might like it, so I borrowed it, and lo and behold I DID!!
Seriously, I just loved Klonoa 2 and what I got to play of Klonoa 1. The GBA games are mediocre, buuuut... here's hoping for a DS Klonoa to rock these socks of mine *crosses fingers*
Anyway, this pic is overdue, I wanted to draw Klonoa but didn't trust myself. I like the way it came out, even if it is pretty minimal. The hands are mangled as always, and the ring is more of an oval than a circle, but I don't care Also, the shoes may be too small and some proportions out of whack. Expect more Klonoa stuff down the line, like Moo's!
I agree with you on the GBA games being mediocre bit.
But, even though I must say I love Klonoa 2's gameplay more, Klonoa: DtP is SO much better in terms of story.
They kinda both revolve around the same thing (four lands and some lost fifth land), but in the first Klonoa, you actually get to LEARN about Klonoa. You get to know who he is. I'd add more, but it would be a total spoiler to the awesome ending.
In Klonoa 2, he earns this title of "Dream Traveler," which was not mentioned in the first AT ALL, and, even though he's the main character, you don't really get to know him at all besides personality. You never know how the heck he dropped into the Sea of Tears to begin with, or where he came from.
I like games that show more effort to explain the characters, so go figure. XD;

Yeah, I did borrow the first Klonoa once, but I wasn't able to save it on the memory card for some reason because I was using a PS2, I tried loads of methods but it wouldn't save, so I never got to finish it (played it for around 6 hours straight before learning it wouldn't save ). I will no doubt borrow it again someday, or something like that and play it through, I loved the game even though the graphics were dated by todays standards.
Have you played Klonoa Heroes? I haven't ;_; It looks quite cool, I think it was for GBA? Or maybe it was Japan exclusive...
Anyhow this pic is GREAT! I, too, love Klonoa and this is an instant Fav for me. The linework stands out (could be that outer glow) and the colouring is more interesting than most cel shading I have seen, and you draw his pants better than I do X} Only think a little off is the face, but I understand how horribly hard it is to draw his face, I drew him 7 times and only JUST got it right. Overall he rocks, draw him mooorreee!
Oh, and don't touch Klonoa Beach Volleyball, I have it and it bites.
